Newsworthy

Pictured above - The Bob Schieffer

This crazy occurrence happened while I was visiting the Newseum with family and friends. Like us, he was there touring the newly renovated and very well done Newseum. We shook his hand and exchanged pleasantries.

We were on a great tour led by Peggy Engel, the wife of my former boss, Bruce Adams.

I recommend this place for anyone visiting DC. You could spend a week in there exploring the all time current events. The place is like no other museum I've ever been in... equipped with a 4D movie theater and newspapers from all the biggest and baddest. They even have the Unabomber's cabin shacked up in an FBI exhibit. There's so much there that a blog post won't do it justice.

Snooping Around

The scoreboard control room at Nationals Park. Lots of fancy gadgets up here on the seventh floor... right next to the TV broadcast booths.

Make a sale...

...ring the bell! Pictured here is my boy sir Charles Rand, who is a sales God.

Monster Jammmm!

You haven't lived until you've spent a wonderful evening with this guy.

Crowds Are The Best

The 2009 Inauguration will be the last time I ever go to something that attracts 1.8 million people to one place.

Don't get me wrong I was glad I went and in 50 years I'll love saying I was there, but all the miles of walking, no sleep, freezing temperatures, unwieldy crowds, and very little visibility equalled an experience I never want to do again.

The photo below shows you where I was. I'll let the internet and your own experience describe the day.

Obama Rama

The We Are One Concert went down on the mall in front Lincoln and who wasn't there? Pictured here is the closest I got to the action on stage. Barry was speaking when I flipped the camera around. In my opinion the only musician that got the crowd going was Garth

It was also insanely cold.

Nats Town

At the end of December I started a sales job with the Washington Nationals. The photo here is from the view of Dad's (Richie) new seats for 2009. We bumped him over a few sections to try and get him closer to behind home plate. It's a nice ballpark, but not one of my favorites. One day when the hood looks more like this I'll be down.

I will say there's something I love about having the whole cathedral to myself.

Fun Party, Not A Fun Cleanup

So I just got done cleaning the puke off my foosball table. Yes, it took more than a month for me to get to it. This photo is from our ballin New Years Eve Party.

Pictured are from left to right: El Lobo, El Lobo girlfriend (Kristen), and AI.

That's A Lot Of Wrapping Paper

Flat screen, wall panel, HD, dolby, uber TV, whatever... it's all there and it's all good. This was our family gift to Nana and Pop pop at Christmas time. Ravens games will never be the same for Pop.

Still Needs A Haircut

The last time AI appeared on the blog he was disheveled and far from the clean cut character that he personifies. How he was able to pull himself away from Cullowhee is beyond me, but he did manage a brief appearance back in Chevy Chase during the holidays. Here he is on Christmas Eve, 2008 hamming it up for the camera in his Sunday best.

We should have gotten him a Mach 3.

B Rock

A few photos from the last couple months. Many to follow...

As you can see Brian has clearly done this before. He's in Mali right now or Uganda or somewhere in Africa fixing internet connections.

The girl holding the funnel is Vivian, who loves Britney Spears music videos and has memorized the dance moves to Single Ladies.

Belated Blog

It's been a while since I was in Las Vegas posting about Baseball's Winter Meetings. I'll get to some details a little later, but the blog died on the day I decided it was taking up too much of my time. Sure, it wasn't much material, but out of respect of the process of making it in the baseball business I decided to quiet down for the time being.

However, I am ready to open back up about the events that have transpired over the last two and a half months. I'll get to all that, but I wanted to share something I saw on HuffPo this morning.

It's a clip of the beloved Conan O'Brien saying goodbye and thank you to everyone he worked with while he was stationed in New York during his 16 years at Late Night. Conan is my favorite TV personality and has got to be one of the most charismatic people on the planet. It's amazing that he goes out night after night and is able to relate to almost every person he meets. Not only that, but to go out and do it for such a long time and continually be the best at what he does is an inspiration.

Check out the clip... it's ten minutes long, but well worth it to see such a classy display of affection.

For those who aren't aware Conan is moving to the 11:30 PM EST time slot to run the new Tonight Show
